International Business Major
INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS COORDINATOR

The interdepartmental major in International Business is designed for the student who wants to understand the field of business in its international dimensions and ramifications. The program includes both core and internationally focused courses in business and economics; course work in another field with an international subject matter, such as political science, geography or anthropology; foreign language study and a study-abroad experience.

Business requires that 15 credits in the major in courses numbered 341 and above be taken at Linfield.

The location and topic for INTERNSHIP (BNSS 487) must be approved in advance for IB major credit (minimum 4 credits).

Only one of the two ECON courses may count toward this requirement.
Other Requirements
- Foreign language proficiency through the first‐year level (American sign language proficiency does not apply). International business majors are strongly encouraged to minor in a foreign language.
- Successful completion of a study abroad experience of at least one semester in length approved in advance by the IB coordinator, preceded by either one semester of foreign language at the intermediate level (or higher), or INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION: GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES (COMM 230).
International students who have come to the United States expressly to attend Linfield University must either:
- participate in a Linfield study abroad experience; or
- take six credits which are designated as U.S. Pluralisms (US) courses. These six credits must be in addition to the requirements of the Linfield Curriculum.
