Undergraduate Certificates and Requirements

Certificates offer the opportunity for students to focus on one thematic or disciplinary area of study.

CREDIT REQUIREMENTS

To earn a Linfield certificate, a candidate must earn 16-41 applicable credits as specified in the requirements for each certificate.

RESIDENCY AND LIMITS:

  • No more than one course may transfer or be earned by Portfolio.  
  • Using courses to fill both certificate and major/minor requirements depends on program:
    • College of Arts & Sciences (Education, French, Spanish): No more than one course may be used to fill both certificate and major or minor requirements.
    • School of Business (Accounting, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Public and Nonprofit Fiscal Management, Public and Nonprofit Management Fundamentals): There is no limit on courses that may be used to fill both certificate and major or minor requirements. 

GPA AND MINIMUM GRADES

A minimum GPA of 2.000 in all coursework applying to the certificate, with a minimum passing grade of D, is required to earn a Linfield certificate unless a higher minimum GPA or minimum grade is specified by a program.
