Student Learning Outcomes
In successfully completing a major/minor in history, a student will:
- Critically analyze and assess historical causation and change;
- Develop an awareness of and sensitivity to the values and attitudes of diverse peoples in other times and places;
- Actively develop excellent research skills and evidence-based reasoning;
- Develop strong oral and written communication skills.
Oregon Preliminary Teaching Licensure in Social Studies
A student majoring in History must also complete a Secondary Education major with Licensure. In order to complete the Secondary Education major with Licensure, students should begin taking education courses no later than their sophomore year. The student must be advised by faculty in both majors.
