Global French Minor
Global French
The Global French program explores the French language and Francophone cultures from a global perspective. Students engage with topics such as migration, politics, film, business, colonialism, culinary cultures, and sustainability in French-speaking regions, while developing the advanced linguistic and intercultural competencies essential for success in today’s world.
Entry points vary from French 101 to advanced levels depending on placement. Beyond the introductory sequence (ELEMENTARY FRENCH I (GLFR 101)-ELEMENTARY FRENCH II (GLFR 102) or INTENSIVE ELEMENTARY FRENCH (GLFR 105)), students complete content courses at the 200- and 300-levels, taught in English, with the opportunity to engage French-language sources through the CLAC module. This model allows more access to the course while offering options for students to continue and advance their French language proficiency.
Students may pursue a Minor in Global French or a Certificate in Global French.
Global French Minor offers two distinct tracks. This flexible approach helps students align their studies with their interests and professional goals.
